The next meeting will be November 26 at 7:30 (7:00 for social time). Shirley Nakamoto will demonstrate how to make Christmas ornaments. Please bring small brushes, (but not your very "bestest, favorite" ones!) and water containers. Also, we will begin out General Meeting early (about 7:15) in order to allow more time for painting ornaments and cleanup.
Dues of $25 are due the end of the year, but we do not have a meeting in December, so we are asking for dues by the end of November. We need to the updated members list to get the info in for the member directory.
Please consider again if you could take a job on our board of directors for next year. We still need a secretary and a historian. See your newsletter for more information. A big thank you to Juanita Gutierrez for stepping in to chair the Carnation Festival spot. We will install 2014 officers in November.
This and That
Shirley received an inspiring phone call from a woman
waiting at the Arvada DMV the other day ... "she just called
to say she really admired and enjoyed our art work on the
walls, and it made her long wait there much more pleasant ...
that call made my day!"
Thanks for sharing Shirley!
The Wheat Ridge Art League held a luncheon on Oct 23 ,2013 to express their appreciation to Charlotte Talbert for her many, many years of hard work and dedication to the Art League and coordination the Carnation Festival Art Show.
Charlotte is a signature member of the Wheat Ridge Art League, which is now in it's 39th year. She has been chairman of the Carnation Festival since it started and is responsible for it's great success as the Wheat Ridge Art League's annual membership show. Visitors have said they look forward to seeing the art show every summer. Charlotte explained that the Carnation Festival started many years ago when the city of Wheat Ridge was made of farms with fields and fields of beautiful carnations, and was known as "the carnation capital."
We all Thank You, Charlotte, and will miss you, and your beautiful artwork ... we hope you will visit us at the meetings and of course at the next Carnation Festival.
Tracy Wilson was our October demo artist, who demonstrated her oil technique which involves underpainting in black and white, then adding color.
